Microsoft to release Full House Poker
In the spring of this year Microsoft are releasing the Full House Poker game for the Xbox Live in which players build their own avatar and compete in poker tournaments.
Microsoft is busy preparing for its release of Full House Poker in the coming spring. This new game for the Xbox Live has been designed to have the feel of a popular television poker show. It is built around televised Texas Hold’em poker tournaments and places players in the middle of the game with their own avatars.
Tournaments in the game will have a maximum of 30 other players that can either be computer controlled characters of other Xbox Live users.
In the game players will be able to choose an avatar and customise it according to their preferences, this will include full control over clothes and accessories. The player can then take their avatar from table to table and challenge other tournament players and poker professionals. A nice touch to the game is that avatars will be seen to react to their cards showing emotions such as frustration when they fold, call or raise.
Those looking for a real cash game will be disappointed; however, the game does include over 150 rewards which can be unlocked throughout the game. The rewards include things such as new poker tables and “chip trick” animations which are designed to help avatars intimidate their opponents.
Of course, full on poker fans are hopeful that one day the game will be released to with a real money mode available. At the moment there is some speculation that this may not be too far in the future. Virgin has recently released a gaming console betting system which will bring players the chance to bet with real money.
The Virgin betting system is designed to allow gamers to bet on the outcome of their video game challenges and then will track the player’s progress on their Xbox or PlayStation to ensure that there is no cheating. After the game the winner will receive their pay-out, according to Virgin there are over 170,000 people from over 30 countries already signed up to use the service.
At present the company only offers organised tournaments which come in two forms, sponsored tournaments in which there is no entry fee and entry-fee based tournaments in which a percentage of the fee goes to the pot. The company is hoping to enable user generated tournaments over the coming months.
