Judging the flop
When playing Limit Omaha Hi there are some hands which are worth playing and others which are not. A good hand is one in which all four cards can work well together and as such are playable from every position. An ideal hand is one that could do well on the flop and have draws that could make it even better. For this reason a hand containing a double ace is in fact not much use. You will find that you are drawing for a third ace, if however, one of the other cards is related to the aces either by suit or by proximity in ranking it is worth looking at the flop.
Aside from hands which contain high pairs and other cards which are close in rank the other playable hands are ones in which all four cards can interact with one another, for example, JT87 or 8764. Also if you have a small pair and cards which connect to them the hand is also playable, for instance 8876. It is highly unadvisable to play a hand in which one of the four cards is disconnected from the other three such as JT92, the two is known as “a dangler”. If you are going to play a hand with a dangler it is better to play one that is suited with an ace, where you have some hope of getting a good hand.
The best advice for Limit Omaha poker is to never hope for the best, if you have a good hand play it and if you do not fold and wait for the next hand. If the flop produces cards that are of no help then fold, do not hope for the best. If the flop expands your hand to contain two pairs proceed with caution. If it produces two bottom pairs then you should fold, but if it produces two top pairs then it may be worth playing. If the flop gives you top and bottom pairs you are in an awkward position and should be treated carefully. The same concept applies if the flop produces a set in your hand, a flopped set is a hand that you still need to draw on to get a full house, be sure you are drawing for high ranking full houses.
The main idea about playing after flop in Limit Omaha Hi is that you want to be drawing cards to try and get the best hand but at the same time you do not want to have to draw. Striking this balance will only happen if you have a hand which works well within itself.
