PokerStars Poker Camp - this year's highlights
PokerStars Poker Camp 2009
A recap of what you missed at this year's PokerStars Poker camps. A first class event which offered lessons from the world's top players alongside great live game play.
Between January 7th and 9th 2009 Poker Stars ran its second Poker Camp at the Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure in the Atlantis Hotel and Casino. Following on from the success of the first Poker Camp at the PokerStars.com EPT stop in Barcelona earlier this season the second camp proved to as big a hit as the first.
Every morning and afternoon classes were held by some of the best poker teachers in the world and members of the Team PokerStars Pro. The classes included lectures, presentations and interactive sessions such as live hand analysis. The sessions were run by an amazing line up of teachers; two previous World Series of Poker Main Event winners, a four-time bracelet winner and one of the world’s leading female players. These were none other than Greg Raymer, Daniel Negreanu, Chris Moneymaker and Vanessa Rousso respectively.
PokerStars tried to run a flexible programme which suited a variety of wants and needs and this produced three days of great variety. One set of classes was focused on how to win large-field, deep-stack live tournaments such as the PCA main event. There was also a Poker 101 on the differences between odds and outs, and also sessions for more advanced players. The camp had its own tournament built into it allowing participants to test out what they had learnt each night; the tournament also had great packages to be won to other PokerStars events. Finally, after the camp was finished all players could put their new found skills to work in a tournament which was only open to the PokerStars Poker Camp participants.
Aside from the intense study of poker, participants had the chance to relax in one of the most stunning and luxurious hotels on the planet. Whilst staying at the Atlantis Hotel on Paradise Island in The Bahamas, they were able to take part in water sports, shopping excursions and relaxing times on the beach.
After running two successful Poker Camps, the first in Barcelona, PokerStars is sure to run a third so keep your eyes open for their next Poker Camp. There were a few ways of obtaining a place at the last two camps such as a direct buy-in or qualifying through online satellites. These qualification methods are sure to reappear with the next Poker Camp so do not miss your chance to go to the next Poker Camp and learn how to increase your winnings.
